NATCHITOCHES- The School of Social Sciences at Northwestern State University is beginning a new lecture series this spring.
According to Coordinator of Social Sciences Dr. Greg Granger, the intent of this series is to bring together interested parties from NSU and the Natchitoches community to hear and discuss issues with experts in a variety of fields.
The first speaker will be Dr. Andrew Curtis of Louisiana State University and the World Health Organization on Friday, April 16 at 3 p.m. in the Ora G. Williams Studio (Room 142) of Kyser Hall. Curtis' topic will be "Using a Geographic Information System to Investigate the 1878 Yellow Fever Epidemic of New Orleans." The lecture will be of interest to historians, geographers, medical researchers, anthropologists and anyone interested in the utilization of cutting-edge technology. Admission is free and open to the public.
Beginning this fall, the School of Social Sciences plans to schedule two lectures each semester.
