NATCHITOCHES- The Neville Brothers along with fellow musician Deacon John will be among 11 individuals who will be presented the New Orleans Life Style Award on Saturday, Oct. 25.
The recipients will be honored at the Creole Soiree' which begins at 7 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel in New Orleans. The soiree' is part of the first Creole Studies Conference. Each of the honorees has made important contributions to the City of New Orleans through music, art, education or architecture.
Charles, Aaron, Art and Cyril Neville will receive the New Orleans Life Style Award along with the late Edwin P. Romain Jr. (classical music), Dr. Sybil Kein (literature and music), Gilbert Fletcher (art), Earl Barthe' (architecture), Dr. Norman Francis (education) and Wanda Lee Rouzan (music and art).
Tickets for the soiree' are $25 and dress is semi-formal. There
will be a variety of Zydeco and Blues music through out the evening.
Food will be served and a cash bar will be provided.
The Creole Studies Conference begins October 23 at 1 p.m. and
the soiree' is the final event. Scholars from around the U.S.
and the world are scheduled to attend along with those interested
in Creole heritage and culture.
The New Orleans Creole Heritage Foundation is a sponsor of the soiree'.
The Creole Studies Conference is sponsored by the Creole Studies Consortium, which includes Northwestern State University and Tulane University.
