NATCHITOCHES -Northwestern State University's cheerleaders and Demon Dazzler Danceline won awards at National Dance Association/National Cheerleading Association camp in Louisville, Ky.
The cheerleading squad won first place in the Collegiate Spirit Routine and College Game Day Routine competition. NSU's squad was also named the Most Improved.
The Demon Dazzlers finished second in the Best Collegiate Team Dance Competition.
The Dazzlers along with coaches Abraham Anthony and Steven Wood won the 2006 College Program Development Award. Dazzler captain Corina Harwood of Libertyville, Ill., won the Collegiate All-American Award.
The NSU cheerleaders and Demon Dazzlers each received a bid to national competition in April. This is the first time each group has been invited to participate in the event.
