NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State University awarded awarded degrees to 763 graduates at its Spring Commencement Exercises held May 9 in Prather Coliseum.
Northwestern conferred an honorary doctorate on Joseph Dow of Pasadena, Texas, founder and owner of Dow Pipe and Fence Supply, and a 1963 graduate of Northwestern. Commencement speakers were Dr. John Ruffin, director of the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities, and State Sen. Gerald Long.
