NATCHITOCHES-Dr. Mary Edith Stacy has been named acting director of enrollment services at Northwestern State University.
Stacy will oversee the Office of New Student Programs, Financial Aid and Scholarships and the Office of University Recruiting. She will also work with Noel-Levitz, a nationally recognized group of consultants on NSU's marketing and recruiting plan. Stacy will also oversee enrollment forecasting for general and specialized markets and facilitate articulation agreements.
Dr. Stacy is exceptionally well qualified to lead the Office of Enrollment Services. She brings to the position a depth of experience that will serve the University well," said Acting Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Anthony Scheffler, who oversees the Office of Enrollment Services. "Dr. Stacy has already done an excellent job of familiarizing herself with the responsibilities of the position and she has made a number of organizational enhancements that will ensure that NSU stays out front in the recruitment of students and in the quality of student services offered."
An 11-year employee of NSU, Stacy was director of auxiliary services for five years. In that position, she managed contracts on auxiliary enterprises including food services, the university bookstore, vending, cable television, security, automatic teller machines, beauty shop rental and student insurance. She also supervised summer conferences, camp programs and the University Post Office.
From 1992 until 1998, Stacy was coordinator of university scholarships. She maintained student files, counseled students and parents and handled budget projections for university scholarships and fee exemptions.
Stacy earned a bachelor's and master's degree at Northwestern and a doctorate at Louisiana State University.
She is active in state and regional financial aid, student personnel administrations and orientation organizations.
Stacy is also active in the Natchitoches community as a member of the Service League of Natchitoches and the Natchitoches Alumnae Chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity.
