NATCHITOCHES – A summer art camp for children will be held in June at Northwestern State University. “Art Fundamentals! A Summer Art Camp” is for children ages 4-6 and 7-11 and is being offered through NSU’s Office of Electronic and Continuing Education.
Leslie Gruesbeck and Christine Ferrell will be the instructors.
Session 1 for children age 4-6 will be held on June 11-15 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Session 2 for ages 7-11 will be held on June 18-22 from 1 to 5 p.m. Each session will be in Room 109 of the new wing of the A.A. Fredericks Center for Creative and Performing Arts,
The fee for the class is $150 plus a $20 supply fee and $5 snack fee. Discounts are available for additional children in a family.
Kids will enjoy a weeklong session that will include ceramics, drawing, painting, tie-dye, fiber arts projects, sculpture and printmaking. All projects are age appropriate and use non-toxic supplies and child-safe tools and techniques. All supplies will be provided and an afternoon snack will be available everyday. Each week will culminate with a special exhibition of student works for parents and friends to view the newly created masterpieces.
