NATCHITOCHES- Dan Flores of the University of Montana will be the guest speaker at the annual banquet of Northwestern State University's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta Friday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Merci Beaucoup Restaurant at 127 Church St. in Natchitoches. Tickets are $14 each. The banquet is open to the public.
Flores is the A.B. Hammond Professor of Western History at the University of Montana. He is the author or editor of several books on the Southwest and Red River Valley area. Flores' most recent book, "Southern Counterpart To Lewis and Clark: The Freeman and Custis Expedition of 1806" sheds new light on their journey up the Red River and into the Southwest.
Phi Alpha Theta has more than 700 chapters in 50 states. Northwestern's Pi Chapter has been active for more than 60 years and is one of the organization's oldest.
