NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State University Lab schools, in collaboration with the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, will again offer Summer Treks, a summer school/enrichment program, June 5-July 14. All-day or half-day programs are available. Students from all schools in Pre-K through kindergarten are welcome.
Morning classes and afternoon activities will be held at NSU Middle Lab School. The morning program will be 8 a.m.-noon with instruction in English, social studies and science, emphasis in math and reading and computer exercises in all subjects. The cost is $40 per week.
The afternoon program will be from noon-5 p.m. and students will enjoy fitness activities, life skills and other fun activities. Afternoon sessions will be open to pre-school students through age 12. Preference will be given to those enrolled in the morning program. The cost is $40 per week.
The all-day program will be from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and will include the summer school program in the morning and the Family and Consumer Sciences' educational enrichment program from noon-5 p.m. The cost is $75 per week.
Pre-school students must be four years old by Sept. 30. Students beginning kindergarten Fall 2005 and students who attended kindergarten 2004-05 may attend. Instructors are not allowed to remove deficiencies for students to pass on to the next grade level.
