NATCHITOCHES- The Northwestern State University Laboratory Schools, along with the NSU Department of Family and Consumer Sciences will offer Summer Treks 2002, a half-day and full-day summer school and enrichment program June 10 through July 19.

Half-day morning programs are for pre-school through eighth-grade students. The program, which will be the regular lab school summer session open to all students, will be held from 8 a.m. to noon.

Instruction will be available in learning disabled, gifted, remedial and regular classes. Math and reading will be emphasized along with computer exercises in all subject areas. The cost is $40 per week.

Pre-school students must be 4 years old by September 30, 2001.

The afternoon program will include the family and consumer sciences education enrichment program from noon to 5 p.m. Students will enjoy fitness activities, life skills and numerous other fun activities. These afternoon sessions will be open to pre-school students through 12 years of age. Cost for the afternoon is $35 per week.

Students can attend the all-day program, including the lab summer school program and the family and consumer sciences enrichment program from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for $75 per week.

The program will be located in the Teacher Education Center, Pod A, on the NSU campus.

Participating in the program does not remove deficiencies allowing students to pass to the next grade level.
