NATCHITOCHES -The Northwestern State University Lab Schools, in collaboration with the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, will offer a one-half day or full-day summer school/enrichment program, Summer Treks, June 7 ­ July 16 at NSU's Teacher Education Center. The program will be open to students in grades pre-K through seventh grade.

Students may take part in the one-half day morning program which will be the regular lab school summer session that is open to all students. Classes for pre-school through eighth grade will be held from 8 a.m. until noon Monday through Friday.

Instruction will be available in the following areas: learning disabled, gifted, remedial and regular classes. Math and reading will be emphasized along with computer exercises in all subject areas.

Pre-school students must have been four years old by September 30, 2003. The cost for the one-half day session will be $40 per week.

The all-day program will include the lab summer school program in the morning and the Family and Consumer Sciences' educational enrichment program from noon until 5 p.m. Students will enjoy fitness activities, life skills and numerous other activities. These afternoon sessions will be open to pre-school students through 12 years of age. The cost for the afternoon session is $40 per week.

The cost for a child to attend from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. will be $75.00 per week.
