NATCHITOCHES - Trans Louisiana Gas Company has made a donation to Northwestern State University's College of Business Development Fund.
The gift will allow the College of Business to increase its student recruitment efforts and seek additional private support. A room in Russell Hall, the home of the College of Business, will be named the Trans Louisiana Gas Company Room.
"We have had an excellent relationship with Northwestern over the years and had an opportunity to help meet some of the needs of the College of Business," said Trey Hill, manager of public affairs for Trans Louisiana Gas Company. "The company feels fortunate to have its name associated with the College of Business. By helping them, we help the communities we serve and the economy in this region. A strong business program at Northwestern benefits all businesses in this region."
Trans Louisiana Gas Company (Trans La) is a natural gas distribution company that serves approximately 80,000 customers through its utility operations in Louisiana. Headquartered in Lafayette, Trans La has about 150 employees with regional offices in Lafayette and Natchitoches and service centers in Mansfield, Winnfield, Pineville, Olla, Monroe, New Iberia and Thibodaux.
Trans La is an operating division of Atmos Energy Corporation. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Atmos provides natural gas service to approximately 1,000,000 customers in 13 states through its five operating divisions - Energas Company, Greeley Gas Company, Trans Louisiana Gas Company, Western Kentucky Gas Company and United Cities Gas Company.
"We are appreciative of the support provided by Trans Louisiana Gas Company to the College of Business," said Dr. Carroll D. Aby Jr., dean of the College of Business at NSU. "They have been receptive to helping our program, and have shown their willingness to be a good corporate citizen. Their donation will help the college continue to attract top students and assist us in gaining additional funds for faculty research and other worthy projects.
