NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State University will host a meeting of the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System Friday, Jan. 26 at the Natchitoches Events Center at 700 2nd Street.

The Board of Supervisors is the management board for eight Louisiana universities including Grambling State University, Louisiana Tech University, McNeese State University, Nicholls State University, NSU, Southeastern Louisiana University, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

"We look forward to visiting historic Natchitoches and Northwestern's beautiful campus," said University of Louisiana System President Sally Clausen. "Not only will it allow the public to see the Board as it works, but it will also give us an opportunity to interact with faculty, staff and students."

The Board of Supervisors attempts to hold two on campus meetings each year.

"This provides the Board an opportunity to observe first hand the progress and achievements of the universities," said Board of Supervisors Chair Jimmy D. Long Sr. of Natchitoches. "It also allows board members and board staff to engage in interaction with faculty and staff of the universities to gain a better understanding and appreciation of their needs in terms of programs, personnel, facilities and other resources. Meeting at universities and touring their facilities is important for the Board, because it gives us important information and insight in carrying out our duties."

Board of Supervisors committees will meet at 1:30 p.m. in Exhibit Rooms 2 and 3. The full Board will meet at 3 p.m. in Exhibit Rooms 2 and 3.

"We are honored that the Board of Supervisors agreed to hold their regular meeting in Natchitoches," said NSU President Dr. Randall J. Webb. "We look forward to showing the Board some of the great things that are happening at Northwestern."

Elsie P. Burkhalter is the Board's vice chair and Michael H. Woods is parliamentarian. Also serving on the Board are Donald T. "Boysie" Bollinger, Victor Bussie, Andre G. Coudrain, Dr. Mildred G. Gallot, Robert T. Hale, Jeff Jenkins, D. Wayne Parker, Gordon A. Pugh, Walter R. Rhodes, Winfred F. Sibille, Dr. Eunice W. Smith, Charles C. Teamer Sr. and student member Aron Walker III.
