NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State University will host a live videoconference via satellite "Compliance with the New Education Tax Report Requirements" on Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Television Studio A on the first floor of Kyser Hall.
The conference will include information on the Hope Tax Credit, the Lifetime Learning Tax Credit and other information provided by the U.S. Department of Education. Dallas Martin, the President of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, will moderate the conference.
Panelists will offer descriptions of the 1998 reporting requirements for schools that include student enrollment, scholarships and tuition; considerations for reporting in future years; general student and taxpayer eligibility criteria; the penalties for non-reporting and Family Education Rights Privacy Act issues.
After presentations from panelists, calls from viewers with specific questions are invited.
The videoconference is designed to benefit anyone who manages student enrollment data; handles students tuition and fee payments, loan records or disbursements; helps students with financial aid, scholarships or educational financing matters; manages tax administration and reporting for a school or coordinates data exchange within a school.
