NATCHITOCHES - The duo Marcolivia will present a recital at Northwestern State University Wednesday, March 7 at 2 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. They will also present a masterclass for NSU students after their recital at 4 p.m. The duo will also perform in Shreveport Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at St. John Berchman Cathedral.
Marcolivia is a violin and violin/viola duo consisting of Marc Ramirez and Olivia Hajioff. Their program will include the "Duo in G Major" by Mozart, "Suite in E Minor" by Jacques Aubert and selected violin duos by Bartok. The program will also include more contemporary works including "Moz-Art" by Schnittke and "Oh Them Rats is Mean in My Kitchen" by Stephen Hartke.
Ramirez and Hajioff formed their duo in 1997 and have toured
throughout the U.S., Canada and Japan. They have performed at
the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Banff Center
for the Arts and the Tokyo College of Music. Hajioff is a native
of England. She was a Fulbright scholar and received the BBC Young
Musician of the Year Award. Ramirez has won first prize in the
Henryk Szeryng, Parisot Friedman and Cavallaro International Competitions.
