FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES - A Northwestern State University student on its Shreveport campus is recovering in an area hospital from a case of viral meningitis.
According to NSU Director of Health Services Stephanie Campbell, viral meningitis is usually mild and often clears on its own in 10 days or less. Viral meningitis is often not diagnosed because its symptoms are similar to the flu.
Campbell said Northwestern regularly schedules meningitis vaccinations
for its students. NSU also has an ongoing educational program
to encourage vaccinations and help prevent the disease.
