NATCHITOCHES- An art exhibit by members of Northwestern State University's visual arts faculty is on display through Feb 18 in the upstairs area of the Orville G. Hanchey Art Gallery. The gallery is located in the new wing of the A.A. Fredericks Center for Creative and Performing Arts and is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.
The exhibit includes six digital photomontage works by Michael
Yankowski, works in oil on paper, on canvas, on panel, and an
acrylic work on paper by Clyde Downs, four watercolors by Bill
Bryant, four watercolors on cotton and
and an acrylic and rice emulsion on wood by Brooks DeFee. Roberta
Walters will display computer generated prints from her Brazilian
research photo journals. Acrylic paintings on panel by graduate
assistants Julie Bridges and Jenny Rusek will be displayed.
Other shows scheduled for the spring includes faculty computer art works from Feb. 22 until Mar. 15 in conjunction with a computer workshop for high school students.
Watercolorist Catherine Jennings of the University of California at Chico will have an exhibit from Feb. 14 through 15. Jennings will work with students in painting classes during a visit March 4- 5 and will be honored at a reception March 4 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
In April, results of the annual student competition will be
displayed. The photography of Curtis Guillet will be featured
in May. Several senior and graduate shows are also scheduled
during the semester.
