NATCHITOCHES - Natchitoches native Whitney Allen will present a violoncello recital at Northwestern State University Monday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

Allen freelances in the Chicago area, and has recently played with the New Philharmonic Orchestra, Dal Niente, Elmhurst Symphony, Oistrach Ensemble, Alpine Theatre Project, Athena Ensembles, and the Lira Ensemble. She teaches privately at the Kaleidoscope School for Strings and Piano in Orland Park, Ill., and at Naperville
North High School in Naperville, Ill.

Allen received a Master's of Music from DePaul University. She earned a Bachelor's of Music from the University of Louisville.

She will be assisted by NSU faculty Dr. Christine Allen on piano and Paul Christopher on violoncello.

Her program will consist of Adagio for Two Violoncelli by Auguste Franchomme, Third Suite for Violoncello by Benjamin Britten, Chant by John Tavener and Suite in C Major for Two Cellos and Piano by Gian Carlo Menotti.
