NATCHITOCHES - The Manship Ney Williams Endowed Scholarship has been established with a donation to the Northwestern State University Foundation. The scholarship will be awarded with first preference to a business major from East Feliciana, West Feliciana, or East Baton Rouge parishes and Wilkinson County, Miss. Preference will also be given to high school students who graduated from Silliman, West Feliciana, Zachary or Centreville Academy. Band students or students with musical interest will receive extra consideration. The scholarship was endowed at the $10,000 level.
The scholarship honors Manship Ney "Man" Williams. Williams graduated from Northwestern in 1970, where he was a member of the Demon Marching Band and Concert Band. He was a partner and co-owner of F.S. Williams Country Store in Ethel. Mr. Williams was killed in an accident in December 2005 at age 57.
"This memorial will create a positive outcome for a promising student," said Director of Alumni and Development Dr. Chris Maggio. "This memorial to Mr. Williams will be a testament to the many lives he touched and the many friends he had."
