NATCHITOCHES - The NSU Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble will perform in concert Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Wind Ensemble under the direction of Jeffrey Mathews will perform "Cyrus the Great" by King, "Finlandia" by Sibelius and Verdi's "Overture" to "La Forza del Destino."
William Brent will conduct the Wind Symphony. They will present "New Century Dawn" by David Gillingham, "Short Ride in a Fast Machine" by John Adams. Also on the program are five American gospel songs for soprano and symphonic wind ensemble arranged by Luigi Zaninelli. Soprano Phyllis Seigler will be featured. The Wind Symphony will present "His Eye is on the Sparrow," "Old Time Religion," "Amazing Grace," "J'ai ete au bal (I went to the dance) for Wind Ensemble" by Donald Grantham and "Pepita Greus pasodoble" by Pascual Chovi
Also on the program is Symphony #3 "Slavyanskaya."
