NATCHITOCHES - Learn what the mystery grape of California is or who put the bubbles in champagne or why pregnant women are never allowed in the cellars of Chablis when the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at Northwestern State University offers its Wine Appreciation class every Thursday night beginning January 29.

The class will be taught by Assistant Professor Dr. Lynn Woods in the Alumni Room of the Family and Consumer Science building on the NSU campus from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. The class will run until March 5.

Participants will learn about and have a chance to taste a variety of wines including White Burgundy, Red Burgundy, Bordeaux, Cognac and Champagne.

The cost of the course is $35 per person or $60 a couple. Participants may receive a 10 percent discount if they register before the first night of class.
