FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES- The Writing Center at Northwestern State University has developed a new Web page to help students quickly find answers to some of their writing questions.
The Writing Center is located in Room 335 of Kyser Hall and is available to assist students of all majors and classifications who may be preparing class assignments, essays or reports. Hours for the Center are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
"This site was set up because students were not always able to access services during the hours we were open," said Pamela Francis, a graduate student in English who works in the Writing Center. "Now, students with questions can e-mail them to us. There are also plans to add Blackboard as well as a chat feature."
The site will contain information on writing assignments, strategies to help complete them and advice from instructors. Students can also find information on grammar and mechanics. They can also use the site to find out which member of the Writing Center staff can assist them, make appointments with tutors, and get answers to quick questions.
A number of helpful links will also be added soon.
Design of the site was done by Matthew D. Barton, who earned a master's at NSU is in now in a doctoral program at the University of South Florida. Francis edited the site.
