Purpose: Advances in our understanding of cardiovascular diseases and their management challenge all clinicians in their efforts to keep up to date.

Objectives: At the conclusion of this conference,  participants should be able to:

1.  Identify current practices in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of selected cardiovascular diseases.

2.  Explore the implications of recent clinical trials in identifying and managing patients at risk of coronary artery disease with statins.

3.  Discuss the treatment and prevention of cerebral vascular disease.

4.  Discuss the diagnosis, treatment and factors determining prognosis of peripartum cardiomyopathy..

5.  Discuss the lessons learned from recent clinical trials in the optimal management of patients with chronic stable angina.

Target Audience

: Physicians, especially cardiologists, internists, primary care physicians, family practice physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and other health care professionals.
