Students BTEPR Public Health’s Bioterrorism Preparedness and Emergency Response (BTEPR) Unit is a key player in the state’s terrorism response education and preparation planning. Through a federal public health preparedness and response for bioterrorism grant, the BTEPR is producing over three million copies of a Family Readiness Guide. The Guide tells Louisiana citizens:
A copy of the Family Readiness Guide can be viewed online at http://www.dhh.state.la.us and clicking on the Bioterrorism Guide button. The goal of this effort is to put the Family Readiness Guide into the hands of every college student in Louisiana. Please forward this information to the students.
Computer Resources The computers in the Information Literacy Lab can be used to search library databases and indexes, retrieve full-text material, search the online catalog, and access library-selected Internet sites. Full-text documents can be e-mailed to an e-mail account, saved, or printed. The Literacy Lab can be reserved by faculty or students for hands-on instruction. A teacher’s station, projector, and ceiling screen are available for showing PowerPoint presentations, BlackBoard, or otherwise connecting to the Internet. Over 200 nursing videos, 1000 physical assessment slides, and a care plan tutorial are loaded on these computers for clinical students. Also housed in the library is a large media collection which can be viewed in the library. The nursing library collection contains 15,304 books, bound periodical volumes, reports, and theses; more than 70% are related to nursing, biomedicine, and radiologic sciences. The library has 1 microfiche title and 58 microfilm titles. We receive 11 print titles as donations; we subscribe to 70 print journal titles and more than 28,000 online full-text journal titles. This includes 3,843 medical and allied health titles of which 454 are nursing journals. More than 3000 psychology and other science titles are also available full text online. Included in our collection are NLN and ANA publications, the Adelaide Nutting History of Nursing collection on microfiche, and a special Historical Collection for research purposes. The CINAHL nursing and allied health literature print indexes are also available. Students and faculty can access many library resources and services (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) by going to the online catalog (SIRSI Unicorn iLINK) at http://nsula.louis/libraries.org, or the NSU Library Catalog. Faculty are encouraged to submit any request for additional library resources to the Librarian, the Learning Resource Committee and Information Technology Committee. The library contains ample seating for studying and a small browsing area where one can relax, read magazines or the local newspaper. Copy machines are available in the library. Copy machine cards may be purchased
from the OneCard System machine in the lobby. whttp://www.nsula.edu/watson_library/
