I am a native Texan, currently living in Atlanta, Texas, with my husband Andy of 23 years.  We have 2 sons, a daughter, and a son-in-law.  Timmy our youngest is 5 and just started Kindergarten.  Chris our oldest is 20 and a Marine stationed in Japan.  Our daughter Candace is happily married (all of 2 months) to Preston and pursuing a career in nursing.  I consider my family to be your typical family, but it did not start out in the conventional way.  Andy and I had to do things backwards....we had teenagers first.  We adopted Chris and Candace when they were 10 and 11 out of foster care and 2 years later along comes Timmy.  All I can say is God has a sense of humor!

As for my nursing career, it started when I was in high school.  I had plans to become a math teacher upon graduating high school, but that all changed my junior year.  My grandmother, a LVN, helped me obtain a job at the local nursing home.  It was during this experience that I fell in love with nursing and upon graduating from high school began pursuing my nursing career.   I graduated in 1985 from Texarkana College with my Associate Degree in Nursing and set the goal of someday obtaining my Bachelor's and Master's degree.  I finally obtained both, my Bachelor's in 1996 and Master's in 2005 from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.   Throughout my nursing career I have worked in a wide variety of nursing areas with most of my experience in general med-surg and care of the elderly.  I can honestly say that I am still as passionate about nursing today as I was some twenty years ago and eager to teach those who have a passion for nursing.
