·         Currently, guiding student planning, development & implementation a health education and screening partnership project with Barrett Elementary School, a health care underserved school population.

·         Nutrition Health Fair (2005). Collaborative effort with School Based Clinic at Linwood Middle School. Directed student health teaching experiences.

·         Currently, seated on Interagency Council for Nursing Information Resources (ICIRN), an international forum for research and promotion of access and utilization of nursing literature

·         Currently, serving appointed position to the American Nurses Association Committee on Nursing Practice Information Infrastructure (CNPII) that oversees criteria and definition for recognition of nursing standardized languages

·         NSU liaison to CERT Taskforce for Biomedical Informatics initiative: Co-author of White Paper to establish Institute for Biomedical Informatics (CIBI), coordinating efforts for education, research and industry in the North Louisiana region

·         Co-PI with faculty from collaborating universities on $50,000 Board of Regents Planning Grant to support development of CIBI grant initiative seeking funding as an NSF center

·         Past chair of the Research and Informatics Council, Louisiana State Nurses Association (1999-2003)

·         Advisory Board, Northwest Louisiana Coalition for Health of Women and Children

·         Served in leadership positions in a variety of church, educational, and civic organizations

·         Successfully involved in fund raising efforts, child development planning and service delivery, and political activism for shaping the Shreveport/Bossier community

Re Research

Completed:

·         The National Nursing Information Literacy Study Evaluating U.S. Nurses’ Information Literacy Skills. This study is endorsed by AMIA-Nurses’ Working Group and ICIRN. Data collection was completed December 1, 2003 and data analysis will be completed February 15, 2004.

·         Advisor for 22 MSN  student group professional papers-in-lieu-of-thesis, each a demonstration of the application of Evidence-Based Practice (2001-2005)

In Progress:

·         Are There Differences in Student Learning Outcomes Between Online And Traditional Instruction for Dosage and Calculation Skills. Conducted with fellow faculty member Data collection Fall, 2003/Spring, 2006.
