Dr. Randall Webb, President of NSU
Welcome to Northwestern State University
Northwestern has become the school of choice for many
discerning students, who want the opportunity to gain a quality education
in an environment that allows them to achieve their fullest potential.
Our university has seen a tremendous growth in enrollment over the
past several years, growing to more than 10,000 students on our campuses
and through distance education. That growth has come while Northwestern
has maintained a personal touch. Our students have the opportunity
to get to know the faculty and many of the staff who are here to
assist them.
At Northwestern, each student can work with faculty who are nationally
and internationally known. The faculty care about our students and
often become mentors to those they have taught.
Northwestern was the first institution in Louisiana to gain 100
percent accreditation of all eligible academic programs. That designation
shows that
the academic programs at NSU meet the highest standards set by
national accrediting agencies.
Life outside the classroom is also an important part of the University. Northwestern offers its students more than 100 student organizations ranging from fraternities and sororities to honor societies and clubs for different majors. These organizations offer a chance to meet new people, develop leadership skills, and help the local community. NSU also has a strong Division I athletic program that is one of the nation's most successful.
