Welcome to the On-Line FERPA Tutorial

This tutorial is a learning tool designed to equip faculty and staff with a better understanding of the confidentiality protections that the federal law affords the records that the university maintains about students. Maintaining confidentiality of student records is everyone’s responsibility whether you are faculty, staff or student.

The tutorial only addresses the essential elements of the law, and it is not intended to be a substitute for legal advice. Specific questions regarding FERPA should be answered by the University Registrar’s Office.

Once you have finished the tutorial, you must fill out the Online Completion Form. This will create a record that you have indeed completed the tutorial.
