What is an MIT?

MIT is the acronym for Member in Training. We call them MIT's because from the time of pinning they are not yet fully initiated members of Sigma Alpha Iota.

To become a member of Sigma Alpha Iota-Beta Iota, a prospective member must meet the following requirements:

Have and maintain at least a 2.7 cumulative GPA.

Complete one semester as a full-time student at Northwestern State University.

Have taken, or are currently taking, at least ONE credit hour in music.

Be recommended by one music faculty member.

Have a sincere interest in music and a willingness to uphold the SAI purposes.

For more information on how to become a member of SAI, please contact our Vice President Membership.

Beta Iota holds a formal member recruitment event for all interested students to join Sigma Alpha Iota at the beginning of each semester. Check our calendar for the specific dates of member recruitment as well as semester obligations.
