Abstract

This thesis explains the irreversible influence that nationalism and music had on the Irish. The document will look at the histories of Irish politics and music in the nineteenth century so that the comparison can be better understood between the two. Other cultural influences of music and nationalism, such as religion, the literary movement, education, and antiquanarianism will also be analyzed. Irish music was an art form almost lost to the world if not for the efforts of some collectors and Irish antiquarians. These men and their work will be addressed.
