Dr. Lisa Wolffe
Professor of Romance Languages

During her eleven years of residence in Europe, Lisa Wolffe developed complete fluency in French as well as competence in German. She taught English in France before returning to the United States to pursue her doctoral studies. While studying at the University of Texas at Austin, she taught French and learned Spanish. After she left Austin, she went to College Station where she taught French at Texas A&M for two years. 

She joined the faculty of the Scholars' College in its first year and helped to set up the original curriculum. She served for four years as the Associate Director of the College and the College's Curriculum Coordinator. In addition to teaching, directing, and coordinating, Dr. Wolffe is the faculty adviser for the NSU Rowing Team which she started in 1988. She is also the Scholars' College Forum Faculty Co-Advisor and served as co-chair of the FrancoFête Organizing Committee for Natchitoches.


Dr. Wolffe is Northwestern State University's representative to CODOFIL and assists students wishing to study French through a variety of international programs.  A number of her students have gone on after graduation to teach English in France.


Dr. Wolffe teaches introductory and advanced courses in French and Spanish, as well as participating in the Texts and Traditions sequence.
