Our Residence Hall
In addition to the University Place clubhouse, where students may watch television and host special events, there are two social lobbies in our area and two study lobbies. Each floor has a laundry room. University Place also has a pool and volleyball pit for residents. |
| Cars on Campus: Freshmen are allowed to bring cars to campus, the center of campus is open to cars, and parking permits cost only $45 per year. But parking is usually available beside the dorm or across the street, and with most of our classes being taught in Morrison, there's no need to drive to class. Students have mixed opinions about whether or not a car is essential for life at NSU. It's largely a matter of personal choice. To take care of everyday necessities, there is a pharmacy across the street from Watson Library, a convenience store a half block from the dorm, and Brookshire's at the far edge of campus. There also are many things to do within walking distance. Some upperclassmen even live off campus without a car. |
| Computers on Campus: Some students just can't live without their own computers. Others care more about having plenty of desk space. Again, it's a matter of personal choice. The College has its own computer lab for use during business hours and for classes to use. There is an additional lab at University Place. Students may use the College's scanner and software to prepare images for papers or other assignments. Freshmen may want to discuss sharing other computer peripherals with their roommates. Northwestern has both Macintosh and PC labs, but the majority of departments use PCs in the Windows environment. Software of choice is Microsoft Office. (Students using Works rather than Word have reported some compatibility issues.) |
