Faculty Meeting Minutes

January 24, 2005

 

        The meeting was called to order at 12:00pm.  Present were Patricia Clark, Dr. Randy Haley, Kathleen Laske, Barbara Pierce, Dr. Francis Powell, Claudia Triche, and Dr. Wade Tyler.  First on the agenda was the CSWE Conference.  Faculty was instructed to make hotel and flight arrangements.  Faculty was reminded to submit their Activity Reports before deadline.  Promotion and tenure policies were issued to faculty and discussed. Faculty was instructed to assembled documentation and submit to the committees in a timely fashion.  

         The faculty discussed the problem noted relative students successfully enrolling in and completing Economics 2010 or the substitute course, Political Science 4040. The faculty determined to develop our own internal course and submit it for approval to the university’s Curriculum Review Committee (CRC). Dr. Powell was selected as the lead instructor and primary course developer assisted by Barb Pierce and Kathleen Laske. They will begin the process immediately and hope to have the course approved in the Fall of 2005 to be taught beginning in the Spring of 2006.        

Computer issues was discussed.  It was concluded that Barb Pierce need a new computer and Dr. Haley would receive a new monitor.  Plans were discussed regarding making Room 310 a departmental  Conference Room.  University policy for internet classes and new internet adjunct instructors was discussed.  New adjuncts are:  Willow Aureala and Eugeina Patru will be teaching SOWK 2100, and Scott Anstadt will be teaching SOWK 4800.  

        The importance of creating, posting, and maintaining office hours was reiterated.  Meeting adjourned at 1:00pm.
