Dr. Pellegrin's dissertation, “United States Military and Diplomatic Relations with the Republic of China in the Era of the Vietnam War, 1961-1969,” analyzes the influence of bureaucratic change, Third World decolonization, domestic reaction, and the Vietnam War on U.S. relations with Chiang Kai-shek and the Republic of China government.

Dr. Pellegrin is also interested in Louisiana political history, in particular anti-Longism. He has published in Louisiana History and has delivered a number of papers, most recently at Harvard University, the George Washington University, and at National Taiwan University.
