The Vice President for Student Affairs or a designated representative administers the disciplinary process governing students at Northwestern State University. After a series of conferences and hearings, judicial matters may be referred to a student/faculty/staff committee appointed by the President. Specific disciplinary due process procedures and the regulations governing student conduct are located in the Northwestern State University Student Handbook under the Student Code of Conduct. The NSU Handbook and The Student Code of Conduct are located on the Northwestern State University WEB Site and are linked from the Student Services WEB Pages.

As members of the Northwestern State University community, students are entitled to the freedoms and rights guaranteed under the Constitutions of the United States and Louisiana. Accompanying these rights are certain responsibilities. Among these responsibilities is the obligation to comply with the institutional regulations stated in the Student Code of Conduct as well as federal, state, and local laws.

The Student Code of Conduct is established to help maintain an environment conducive to learning and other educational pursuits. The Code is intended to ensure the enjoyment of students of all proper rights and to protect the University's mission, processes, resources, and constituent community.
