The Testing Center at Northwestern State University (NSU) exists to provide a variety of testing options for students at NSU and the surrounding communities. We strive to assist individuals in achieving their academic and professional goals by offering the most advanced options in a quiet and secure environment.   The Testing Center adheres to the National College Testing Association’s (NCTA) standards and guidelines to provide quality services to NSU and the surrounding communities.

Testing options available through the Testing Center are listed below.

ACT – The ACT, a college entrance exam, is given on select Saturdays throughout the year.  For additional information regarding the ACT and registration information click here.  The Office of Electronic and Continuing Education offers an online ACT Prep class.

Accuplacer –  ACCUPLACER is an integrated system of computer-adaptive assessments designed to evaluate students’ skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. For over 30 years, ACCUPLACER has been used successfully to assess student preparedness for introductory credit-bearing college courses. ACCUPLACER delivers immediate and precise results, offering both placement and diagnostic tests, to support intervention and help answer the challenges of accurate placement and remediation. 

SAT – The SAT is a standardized test also used for college admissions given on select Saturdays throughout the year.  For more information regarding the SAT and registration information, click here. The Office of Electronic and Continuing Education offers an online SAT Prep class.

CLEP – The College-Level Exam Program (CLEP) gives you the opportunity to receive college credit for what you already know.  Earn qualifying scores on any of the 33 examinations.  CLEP exams are offered by appointment only. To register for a CLEP test, click here.

Praxis –The Praxis Series® tests are taken by individuals entering the teaching profession as part of the certification process required by many states and professional licensing organizations. For additional information or to register, please click here.

Pearson VUE – Pearson VUE develop and deliver certification or licensure exams, providing expert testing services that drive your exam program to new heights. To register or additional information, click here.

GRE – The GRE General Test features question types that closely reflect the kind of thinking you’ll do in graduate or business school. For more information, please click here.

TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language test measures English-language proficiency at the university level using intergraded task in reading, listening, speaking, and writing. For more information, click here.

Proctoring is available to students whose professor is not physically located on the Natchitoches Campus of NSU. Please contact us at the information listed or submit a proctor request form above. Appointments are available Monday – Friday during hours of operation. The Proctoring Lab is also available for Faculty/Staff to use to proctor tests.
