Barry B Stoneking

Assistant Professor, Director of Dance.
BFA in theatre: West Virginia University
MFA in Dance/Choreography: University of North Carolina Greensboro.
Artistic Director: 2B TRIBE dance theatre, Greensboro NC.
I approach life with the power and tenacity of an artist; always imagining what may be rather than accepting what is. I enjoy working in a broad range of disciplines from visual art and design to music, theatre and dance. When developing work for industrial clients Henredon/Ralph Lauren and Sara Lee Hanes, creating roles for choreographers B.J. Sullivan, John Gamble and Dan Wagoner or directing and choreographing for numerous theatres and dance companies; I draw on the individuality of my experience to reveal a genuine product. I strive to make dances that are imbued with the human condition: athletic, honest and always from the inside out. My choreography is often issue driven; challenging both performer and observer on a visceral level to question, examine and contemplate the ironic and absurd realities of existence. I teach contemporary, jazz and ballet technique; choreography; acting; dance history and conditioning as well as choreograph for departmental productions and the NSU Dance Company.
