Academic Center's Tutoring Program

Academic Center (Kyser Hall, Room 239)
Centrally located on Northwestern's main campus, the Academic Center houses a free peer tutoring program open to all Northwestern students. In addition, students may access an open study hall and computers Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Academic Center Tutoring Outposts: Extended Hours of Operation
Located on the four corners of the Natchitoches campus, the Academic Center's Tutoring Outposts extend quality tutor programming into the evening and night-time hours.

  1. Tutoring Outpost @ Boozman Residence Hall (3rd Floor Study Hall, adjacent to the Student Technology Computer Lab).

  2. Tutoring Outpost @ Health & Human Performance Building (Room 119).

  3. Tutoring Outpost @ Wellness, Recreation, and Activities Center (Room 208).

  4. Tutoring Outpost @ Watson Memorial Library (2nd Floor Reading Room).

All students may participate in the Academic Center's free campus-wide tutoring program. Academic Center provides quality one-on-one and group tutoring for most of the University Core curriculum. Tutoring is also available for many 'barrier' courses in the Humanities, Arts, and Sciences.

Academic Center peer tutors have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and faculty endorsement. In addition, during their first semester, Academic Center tutors complete a College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) certified tutor training program. This certification ensures that tutor training and performance meets national standards of excellence.
