User's Guides:    Chronological Resources

For some types of research, it is necessary to find out events that occurred on a particular day and year. The easiest way to find this information is to locate a newspaper that was published on the date in question and the day after to find out what events were reported. The major national newspaper available in the library is the New York Times and the main state paper is the New Orleans Times Picayune.

Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe An electronic index with all full-text articles . Select General News Topics for newspapers. Available on the unified workstations and the Watson Library home page.
Facts on File A weekly news reporting service D 410 F3 REF
Readers' Guide to Periodical Literature A periodical index to magazines including news magazines such as Time and Newsweek. Available on Index Table 1 B and the LOUIS Periodical Indexes.
World Almanac This resource contains information on events that happened the previous year. AY 67 N5 W7 REF
