NSU Wireless Internet Setup
 

Your wireless network card must be able to support WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) security to connect to the NSU network. The following setup applies to the Windows XP built-in wireless utility, but other versions of Windows can use these settings if a wireless utility came with your wireless network card.

 

Step #1:  Click on Start at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.  Then, scroll up to Connect To and a menu will come up.  From there, click Show all connections.

 

Step #2:  When the Network Connections screen comes up, Right-Click on Wireless Network Connection and a menu will come up. Left-Click on Properties.

 

Step #3:  At the first Wireless Network Connection Properties screen, Left-Click on the Wireless Networks tab and then Left-Click on Add. The Wireless network properties window will appear.

 

Step #4: Students, Type in the Network name (SSID): Secure_Student

Faculty/staff type in Network Name (SSID) "Secure_Admin"   

Choose “WPA for Network Authentication and “TKIP” for Data encryption. If you do not have the WPA option, your wireless card may not support this security.

Then Left-Click on the Authentication tab at the top.

Step #5:  Choose “Protected EAP (PEAP)” for EAP type. All other entries must be unchecked.

Then Left-Click on the Properties button under EAP type.

 

Step #6:  All entries must be unchecked for this screen. 

The Select Authentication Method should bet set for “Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)”.

Then Left-Click on the Configure button next to the Select Authentication Method.

Step #7:  Make sure that the When connecting option is unchecked. 

Left-Click the OK button on all windows until they are all closed. This will apply your new settings.

Step #8:  A Wireless Network Connection bubble will appear. Left-Click on the bubble (not the bubble’s X) and the login window will appear.

Step #9:  Under Enter Credentials, type in your myNSU username and password in the spaces provided, and type in “STUDENT” for the Logon domain

Faculty/Staff, type in you normal Username and Password and  "NSULA" for the logon domain.

 

Left-Click OK to connect to NSU’s wireless network.

 

Step #10: Another bubble notifies you of your successful connection to NSU’s wireless network.
