Master of Arts in Teaching, Early Childhood Education, Grades PK-3, PROFESSIONAL STUDIES Program (548A)

This Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education prepares teachers seeking alternate certification to work with young children, their families, and their communities. The degree program is comprised of education courses and a practicum experience that address all standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Throughout the program, candidates strengthen their knowledge, skills, and dispositions related to working with children from birth to eight years of age. Graduates of the program will be eligible for Louisiana initial teacher certification in grades PK-3 and will meet the requirements for becoming a “highly qualified” educator.

The Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education, Grades PK-3, is comprised of 39-semester hours of graduate coursework, including a one-year Internship in Teaching.  Candidates must present a passing score on the PRAXIS II pedagogy test prior to enrollment in the Internship. Courses are offered 100% online. Applicants may begin the program in the summer, fall, or spring semester.
