Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts
All students are assigned a professional academic advisor who will provide on-going assistance. The advisor and student will collaborate to identify academic and career interests. Once identified, the advisor may recommend certain courses, minors, concentrations and other extra-curricular activities accordingly.
A comprehensive approach to an interdisciplinary studies program often involves making appropriate referrals elsewhere on campus to ensure that students’ diverse needs are met. Our advisors are committed to on-going collaboration with faculty and staff to assist their students from the point of admission through graduation.
Northwestern State has implemented a new Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) known as Learning for Life, in which all undergraduate students will participate in an experiential learning opportunity geared towards preparing graduating seniors for life after graduation. In alignment with this initiative, all Liberal Arts students will complete a 6-credit capstone series during their final semester, in which students will focus on preparing for the transition from student to professional. Students will not only learn how to research the job market and/or graduate schools, but they will also receive in-depth training and guidance on professional networking, resume development, interview skills, and more.
