Vaccination helps prevent infection and provides highly effective protection against severe disease. To ensure the safety of the university community, unvaccinated faculty and staff are subject to weekly testing in accordance with university human resources protocols. Proof of immunization will be required for students to register for future classes.
With the FDA’s full approval of the Pfizer vaccine, the Louisiana Department of Health has approved the addition of COVID-19 to the required immunization schedule at all nine members of the University of Louisiana System, including Northwestern State. According to the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), people in the 18-to-29 age range account for the most reported cases of COVID-19.
