Papa wasn't even a carpenter, you know, eighteen years and he got married. He just built it. It's not square. Nothing is like it should be, but we been living here all this time. . . . We inherited the [land] from his father, my grandfather. They inherited the furniture and everything from Suzanne [Metoyer], that's where we came from - Augustin's sister.

This one story, frame home with front gallery was built by John Joseph Conant, c. 1892, on land inherited from his father. He was a direct descendent of Suzanne Metoyer, the twin sister of Augustin Metoyer.
