Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA Flower Bucket - Mental Health)LSMSA Flower Bucket: Neurochemical reactions - Encountering flowers triggers the release of several key neurotransmitters associated with happiness and well-being. These include Dopamine (a chemical that is linked to reward-seeking behavior. When we see a flower, our brain anticipates a reward—a vestige of our evolutionary past—triggering a dopamine release that leads to feelings of pleasure), Serotonin (often described as a mood stabilizer, serotonin is influenced by floral scents like lavender and jasmine, which can promote feelings of peace and calm), Oxytocin(known as the "bonding hormone," oxytocin is stimulated by acts of social connection. Giving or receiving flowers can trigger this chemical, foster feelings of trust and strengthening relationships), and endorphins (colorful, floral environments can stimulate endorphin release, providing a sense of natural euphoria and pain relief). Beyond specific brain chemicals, flowers produce a cascade of positive effects on both the mind and body.

Visitors can interact with various farm animals at our sanctuary, creating a therapeutic experience that fosters healing and connection. We can bring a horse, donkey, kitten or dog.
