Northwestern State will close Monday, Jan. 26 due to winter weather

NATCHITOCHES – Due to anticipated winter storm conditions and in coordination with guidance from the National Weather Service and local officials, all campuses of Northwestern State University will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026.

“The safety of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors remains our highest priority. Forecasted conditions may create hazardous travel and outdoor environments, and the decision to close campuses reflects our commitment to protecting the university community,” said NSU President James Genovese.

Campus Operations and Student Services:

Residence halls will remain open for students who choose to remain on campus. Students staying on campus are expected to follow all university protocols and safety guidelines.

Dining services will operate on a modified schedule. Additional details, including current updates and dining schedules, will be communicated through official university channels and the university’s dining services social media accounts:

 The Food Pantry will be open Friday from 8–10 a.m. to support students who may be in need.

Safety Guidance:

Members of the university community are encouraged to exercise caution during winter weather conditions. Limit unnecessary travel, remain alert for icy roads and walkways, dress appropriately for cold temperatures, and take reasonable steps to protect personal safety. Students remaining on campus should remain attentive to university guidance and posted safety information.
