NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University Director of Percussion Studies Dr. Oliver Molina will present a Faculty Chamber Percussion Recital on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend. A livestream will be available at www.nsu.la/CAPA-LIVE.

Molina said the program “features an engaging and stylistically diverse collection of contemporary chamber works that highlight collaboration, color and storytelling through percussion.”

The recital opens with “dream on” (2022) by Irish composer Emma O’Halloran, featuring violinist Andrej Kurti and clarinetist Malena McLaren. Additional works include Andrea Venet’s “Faded Lines” with percussionist Andrew Blair, Andrew Beall’s expressive “Song of ‘Almah” with vocalist Terrie Sanders and Wally Gunn’s “Can You Hear Me?” with pianist John Price.

The evening continues with Joe W. Moore III’s imaginative “Constellations” featuring Stephen Clark on alto flute and concludes with Andy Akiho’s dynamic “the rAy’s end” performed alongside violinist Sofia Tchetchelashvili and trumpeter Jack Stanley. The program also includes a special presentation of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by J. Rosamund Johnson.
