NATCHITOCHES – The NSU Saxophone Studio will hold a recital on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. A livestream of the concert will be available at www.nsu.la/CAPA-LIVE.

The concert will feature the NSU Sax Choir and two NSU Saxophone Quartets, as well as solo performances by members of the NSU Saxophone Studio. The students have put together this performance in preparation for their trip to the Biennial NASA (North American Saxophone Alliance) Conference hosted at Ohio State University on March 12-15.

The Saxophone Alliance conferences occur every two years and are attended by saxophonists from throughout North America. Three years ago, students from the NSU Saxophone Studio performed at the 2023 Biennial, which had been the first conference since Covid. This year, NSU students will be attending to experience and enjoy saxophonists and music from throughout the entire continent.

The NSU Saxophone Studio includes students under Professor of Saxophone Dr. Paul J. Forsyth. These students, most of whom are music majors, help make up the saxophone sections within the NSU Concert Bands, the NSU Jazz Orchestra, the NSU Jazz Combos, the NSU Saxophone Quartets and the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band. The Saxophone Studio is active in performances throughout the school year, including the annual NSU Saxophone Studio Recital and NSU SaxFest. At the NSU SaxFest, guest artists from around the world have performed including Derek Brown, Joe Lulloff, Arno Bornkamp and Kenneth Tse.
