NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s Office of Electronic Learning and Global Engagement will offer a Notary Public Exam Prep class starting Aug. 17. Early bird registration is available through July 28 at a cost of $499. After July 28, registration will continue through Aug. 11 at a cost of $519.
Offered in partnership with Louisiana State University-Shreveport, this 52-hour course is an introduction to notary public fundamentals. The instructor, attorney and notary Jennifer Brown, will distribute significant course study guides and materials to assist students in preparation for the exam. This course will be delivered via online video conferencing.
The instructor will provide students with a conferencing link to join the class on the first day of class, Monday, Aug. 17. Classes will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays via Zoom through Oct. 15.
Students must be at least 18 years of age and must have broadband access, a camera and sound. The test is based on the Louisiana Secretary of State’s latest edition of “The Fundamentals of Louisiana Notarial Law and Practice,” available only at www.sos.la.gov or by calling (225) 922-0507 for further information. Students must have this book before the end of the course, which is not included in the cost of the course.
Students will also need the “Louisiana Notary Exam Sidepiece” to the 2026 Study Guide by Steven Alan Childress, available on Amazon, also not included in the cost of the course.
