NSU Engineering Technology will host workforce development workshops

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s Department of Engineering Technology will host two workforce development workshops in October, Statistical Quality Control and Managing Projects:  Structure That Still Flexes. The minimum requirement to participate is a high school degree.  The cost is free with support from Weyerhaeuser and the Department of Engineering Technology.  Lunch will be provided.

Dr. Nabin Sapkota will instruct the workshop in Statistical Quality Control, which will take place from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3.  The workshop will focus on quality principles, basic tools and understanding process variation, introduces control charts and how to create and interpret them and covers process capability and the application of these tools to real-world problems.

Craig Caskey will instruct Managing Projects: Structure That Still Flexes, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 and Friday, Oct. 9. This workshop is for those who have already run Kaizen events and PDCA cycles.  This workshop applies the same thinking to project work, phase by phase, from initiating through closing.  Over two days, participants will work through the planning tools, the control methods and how to build check-and-adjust cycles into execution without losing the structure an organization depends on. Participants can attend both days or join Day 2 if their process is already defined and they are looking for what to do inside it.
