NATCHITOCHES – The Creole Heritage Center at Northwestern State University invites all to its open house Tuesday, Oct. 27 and Wednesday, Oct. 28. Center staff will be on hand from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day to welcome visitors and share about the Center’s initiatives to preserve and educate all about Louisiana Creoles and their culture. A special scavenger hunt will be available for all ages to complete while exploring the Center’s photographs, material objects and artwork about Louisiana Creole history and culture on display. Light refreshments will be served.
“October is Creole Heritage Month in the state of Louisiana and around the globe,” Dr. Kent Peacock, director of the Center, explained. “We wanted to mark the end of the month with a special opportunity to visit the Center and learn about this significant part of our Natchitoches community and Louisiana culture overall.”
Participants in the Center’s month-long scavenger hunt #CreoleQuest2026 can also submit their scavenger hunt cards, show other proof of participation and pick up their prizes during the Open House.
